China — Day 12: June 2019
Well, as you can tell (given that it’s November and we’re just now posting this) we’ve been a bit behind on posting for various reasons. We’re trying to get caught up. With that out of the way…
Day 12 in China started out in Shanghai, and then a long bus ride to Suzhou. The main attraction was seeing the Classical Gardens of Suzhou, which are apparently on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are nine different gardens in all, though we only saw two of them. To be honest, at this point in the trip, the kids were a bit done with gardens and it was a bit of a battle getting through even just this one. The gardens were very beautiful, though, and the shade was a nice respite from the June sun and heat.
We then went to a(nother) silk factory, though this one was much more interesting than the other one we had visited previously, (a) because there was a lot more to see, and (b) because there was no high pressure sales pitch.
Then we went to another garden, which was a bit bigger and more interesting. There even was a bit of “hiking” to do (meaning about 10 feet of elevation) and then we hit up the shops outside.
After the long bus ride back home, we walked to the local mall a few blocks from the hotel for another visit to Pizza Hut and watched some of the local exercise/dancing.
