What is Thanksgiving for? November 2013
Esme has been in a singing mood lately, as recent videos show. But yesterday she really outdid herself with this Thanksgiving song she wrote herself (and we’re pretty sure made up on the fly). Here are the “lyrics,” in case you can’t figure it out.
What are you thankful for, What am I?
I don’t know (to?) tell you why
Why do we have to be thankful for something?
That’s what Thanksgiving is for.
Everybody has something that they’re thankful for
But some people might not know.
So if you do, tell me now
I might even try it, you know (?)
That’s what Thanksgiving (dramatic pause) is for.
What do you think Thanksgiving is for?
For that (you’re) thankful for.
It’s when you share what you’re thankful for
To the earth
If the earth, sky, clouds and sun
Have something they’re thankful for
So should something else that you’re thankful for.
All of those things I just told you about
So it’s a thankful day.
