Texas Trip: Summer 2013
For this year’s summer vacation, we packed up the minivan and logged 1900 miles roundtrip to Texas. 3 states, 8 days, 7 nights, 5 different places to stay… it was quite a trip! The girls did great in the long drive down in the car, two days each way. The DVDs in the car and the promise of swimming at the hotels helped. We met up with MiMi and PaPa in New Braunfels on Sunday, and spent 3 days at Schlitterbahn — the world’s best water park (our assessment and many others’ as well) — where the girls had a blast. The weather was perfect — nice and warm, making the acres of water attractions a treat. We stayed on property, just a short walk from some of the pools, which was a great convenience. Then on Wednesday we drove up to San Saba to see Leslie’s Grandmother, and Uncle Gene was visiting as well. We spent Thursday — the 4th of July — hanging out with everyone, including Uncle Mike and Aunt Cheryl — and then caught the fireworks in the town park. After lunch Friday it was back in the car for the long drive back home. We had a great time and knowing how well the kids did in the car gives us courage to try it (or a longer trip?) again soon!
