Birmingham Trip: March 2013
We hadn’t ever been to Birmingham, Alabama, even though Aunt Debbie and Uncle Nick and Cousin Robyn and Grandma Else had lived there for about a year. And while The Bunches were able to see the girls over the holidays, Grandma Else hadn’t seen everyone since Robyn’s high school graduation, when Brynn was only a few months old. So, we packed everyone into the minivan and made the trip down to Birmingham for the weekend. We got lucky and picked a weekend when GiGi and Grandpa Art were visiting too, and it happened to be Grandma Else’s birthday too (in addition to belated celebrations for Brynn and Leslie).
The girls (and mom and dad) did great in the car — all 10.5 hours each way (with stops) — and we had a wonderful time playing around the house and visiting the fun science museum. It was good timing for our visit, too, as the Birmingham crew will be moving back to Atlanta in a few months, so had we not visited now we maybe never would have had as good a reason to.
