Macklind Mile 2011
The Macklind Mile is a fun race which we’ve always wanted to run — one mile, mostly downhill. It’s held every 4th of July, in St. Louis, on Macklind Ave (hence the name). We signed up a few years ago, though it was pouring (POURING!) rain and we decided to bail out. This year, the weather was touch-and-go though we made it and had an awesome time. Leslie and Jeff both ran in the “family run” (no awards, strollers/etc. allowed), with Jeff pushing the double jogging stroller, and Esme ran in the kids 1/4 mile. Jeff broke 7 minutes (the extra weight carrying him downhill helped), Leslie broke 7 minutes 30 seconds, and Esme broke a sweat in the kids race — take a look at the whole kids field, including Leslie (blue shirt, white hat) with Esme (pink shirt, yellow shorts) and friend Kristin with Bella (gray shirt) bringing up the rear
