Pumpkin picking
It’s mid-October, so it’s time for another Fall tradition — pumpkin picking. It’s amazing how much things have changed since last year’s trip. First off, it was in the high 80s on Saturday… in the shade! Quite different from what the weather normally is in October, and what it was like last year.
Of course, the biggest change was in how much the kids have grown. In 2009 there was some fumbling around the bumpy field, but this year Esme and Bella were running around like they owned the place. Since we already had a few “regular” pumpkins at home, we picked out a nice green one to add variety, and Esme found a nice tiny one (a gourd, really, we think) at the shop to bring along. That was followed by a picnic where we met up with a bunch more of Esme’s friends and tried to stay cool in the shade.
