City Museum
We decided to take a little adventure today and try something new, so we ventured downtown to the venerable City Museum. Though Leslie and Jeff have been there many times, this was Esme’s first trip. The City Museum, for those who don’t know, is a wondrous place filled with history, art, entertainment, and lots of opportunities for injury. (Luckily, we all came out unscathed.)
Esme is still a bit young to appreciate all of the fun stuff to do there — the 3-story tall slide, the converted skateboard park, the tunnels and caves with openings small enough to allow in only the smallest children, the miniature ride-on train, the enormous outside playground suspended in the air — though that didn’t stop her from having a good time. In probably about a year or so she’ll be able to begin to fully appreciate all that this St. Louis treasure has to offer. We’re fine with waiting until then — at $12 per person, it’s not cheap, though as a special treat it was worth it.
Below are some pictures from the trip plus a first for the blog — a video montage which, well, doesn’t really work the way we were expecting it to, so we probably won’t do it again. Once the first video is done playing, click the >| button to the right of the Pause button in the bottom-left corner of the video to go on to the next clip (there are 5 in all). We thought it would just automatically go from one clip to the next…
You’ll notice that Esme’s favorite part of the museum was not any of the fun attractions — it was the big open space for her to run around.

It is good to see that mother and daughter are having so much fun together. She certainly has learned how to use her 2 little feet to make speedy progress on the floor. However, I think you are right – she will probably experience a lot more next year.
Thank you for sending us the pre-Esme enlightenment that could be found in museums.
