The Hinyard-Lash Experience: Starring Leslie, Jeff, Esme, Brynn, Han, and other members of the Hinyard-Lash family

ZOOmagination Station

Friday, October 23, 2009

We’ve been finding a lot of great (free!) things to do with Esme lately. One recent discovery was ZOOmagination Station at the St. Louis Zoo. They describe it this way: “The Zoo’s new discovery room experience invites young children and their caregivers to create, explore, investigate, and imagine while discovering the animal world together.” Essentially, it’s a big play room with lots of fun and educational toys. It’s open every day year round, and did we mention it’s free? You have to get tickets for a 45-minute session, though when we went on Sunday we had no problem getting into the session which started a few minutes after we arrived.

Esme is a bit too young to appreciate the “educational” part of it, though the “fun” part certainly appealed to her, as you can see in the pictures below.

As an aside, I (Jeff) am writing this from a plane right now, somewhere between Boston and Milwaukee. I’ve taken a number of flights recently where wifi is available, and it’s truly a remarkable experience to be connected at such a speed and height. It will be interesting to read this post years from now, since I’m assuming that in-flight internet access will be as common in 2029 as running water is in 2009.

If you’re reading this in your email, you might want to view this post on the web site for easier viewing of the images. You can always go to the SmugMug gallery to download the photos or order prints.
