42 flights of pain
On Saturday, we participated in the second annual “Master the Met” stairclimbing race to raise money for the American Lung Association. Jeff competed last year and, despite the excruiciating pain of climbing 1000+ stairs without stopping, decided it was a good idea to try again. Our friends Andrew and Donna joined us for the race, and we’re pleased to note that all of us successfully completed it without need of any medical assistance.
The full results are online: Jeff finished in 7 minutes, 19 seconds, beating his time from last year by 16 seconds. Leslie finished in 9 minutes, 13 seconds. Out of ~900 participants, we were both pretty pleased with our showing.
Esme had a good time hanging out with Leigh, John, and Rowan — they did not climb any stairs, save maybe for the stairs to the patio outside their house. Maybe next year at this time Esme will be able to do a few stairs on her own…
