Meet the cousin
Yesterday we returned from a great weekend in Washington D.C. (well, Arlington, VA to be more precise). Esme got to hang out with her Grandpa Art and GiGi, uncle Dave and aunt Steph, and, most importantly, her new cousin Ian! Everyone had a great time, and Esme and Ian seemed to get along fine. Ian ignored Esme for the most part, and Esme seemed rather intrigued with Ian when he was crying or making noises. The few times they were close enough to touch, Esme started to try and put Ian’s hand in her mouth (in all fairness, she tries to put everything in her mouth).
The trip itself was smooth. Esme did great on the plane rides — with this being her fourth round trip in under 7 months, she’s a well traveled kid. She also slept pretty well in Ian’s crib (he was kind enough to let her use it since he isn’t using it yet), much better than any of the other trips she’s been on — and that made Mom and Dad very happy!
Between Art and Dave and Jeff, there are several hundred pictures and movies. In the interest of not boring everyone too much, and not waiting too long to post things, we’ve put a small (?) collection of pictures from the weekend online. Some movies are probably coming soon, too.
If you don’t want to look at the whole gallery, here’s one of our favorite pictures of the cousins together.

We are suffering an acute case of Esme and Ian withdrawl. There is only one cure – another visit. From the pictures you can see why!

Well, you made our day! It started off with a real upbeat slide show of the parents, the grandparents, etc. Not that these pictures substitute for seeing and touching the people, but it sure beats wondering what is going on in our family lives. Emails are a wonderful thing and it keeps us intimately intouch with the gang. Esme is one beautiful little girl – she has a bright looking face and you can see how curious she is by her expressions. I’m sure Ian will have similar responses when he gets a little “older”. Thanks you guys for sending on your “initial” display of pictures describing the events of a cousin get together. Love
