Viva Las Vegas
Esme just made her third plane trip in less than 6 months — this time to Las Vegas! Jeff’s college friend Bryan was getting married and the whole family went out for the celebration. (Actually, this was a planned wedding in Las Vegas — a bit different from the normal Vegas wedding, we know.)
It was a whirlwind trip, with lots of great food and sightseeing. We stayed off the strip at the Red Rock Resort (and Casino, of course), which was a nice change of pace. It’s away from the regular hustle and bustle, settled next to the mountains, with beautiful views of the developed and natural aspects of Las Vegas.
And yes, we did gamble, though just a bit. Each of us made a $10 “contribution to the local economy,” Jeff in the form of video roulette (all of the fun of betting on a game of luck without any of that pesky need to interact with other people) and Leslie in the form of penny slots (all of the fun of video games in a slightly slower way of losing your money). Esme didn’t take to the tables, though she did enjoy many walks around the edge of the casino when she woke up at 5am.
The wedding was great, and we had a wonderful time at the weekend festivities. Everyone in the family came back with a bit of a cold, and between airplanes, time zone and climate changes, walking The Strip, and buffets, we were glad to take advantage of the long weekend and take it easy Monday after we got back.
And of course, we’ve got pictures!
