Weekend activities
Despite our predictions for a rapidly-cooling fall, St. Louis’s crazy weather pattern prevailed and we had a gorgeous fall — really more like spring — weekend.
On Saturday, we ventured over to Washington University and walked around the campus to see what our 3-degrees-of-tuition has done for the place. It’s been a few years since either one of us was in school there, and even a good while since we’ve really waled around. My, how things change. There’s lots of new buildings, remodeled buildings, and, in true WashU fashion, less parking and less green space. We saw the new facilities, reminisced about the old facilities, and even stopped by KWUR, our college radio station. With lots of nice new buildings, it’s rather fitting that KWUR is still in the same old place — in the basement of an old building, with the only entrance around the back.
On Sunday, we got out early to enjoy the nice weather (and the extra hour thanks to daylight savings time) and went to Forest Park, again reminding ourselves why we love St. Louis so much. Mid-way through our 6-mile walk around the park, we realized that we were going to be walking right past the Zoo, and Esme hadn’t been yet. Sunday morning was a great time to go — no crowds, lots of kids, and most of the animals still sleeping in. Esme didn’t react too much to any of the exhibits, though since we have such a fantastic (and FREE) zoo, we’ll surely be back many times and Esme will get many more opportunities.
We forgot to take pictures in the zoo itself, though here’s a memento of Esme’s first trip to the zoo…

We are quite jealous…Tatum has never been to the zoo. Sounds like a great day.
