I scream, you scream, hopefully the baby doesn’t scream
One nice thing about having a baby in the summer (rather than the winter) is that it’s great weather for walking. Other than the first few days of Esme’s life, when it was on or above 100 degrees (and we were inside), August has been fairly mild, giving us lots of opportunities to take walks around the neighborhood. When we’re feeling especially adventurous, we’ll take the dogs along.
There’s a strange little “New Orleans Style Sno-Balls” stand that’s been around since before we moved in to our house over 5 years ago, yet we never went there until this year. We were a bit scared off by the fact that they are in the parking lot of a service station, and also because their hours (Monday-Friday, noon-9pm) are a bit odd, given that weekends are usually when we go out for dessert treats.
Still, it’s less than a mile from our house, and we pass it on the return leg of our standard long walk route. We went up there a few weeks before Esme was born and tried their soft serve ice cream. While it’s not the best we’ve ever had, for $1.25 a cone, it’s certainly a good option on a hot summer evening.

I wish I was Esme! She has really got a great life and the beauty of which – she is not denied any of the pleasures that the adults seem to enjoy. Once Esme gets to understand what went on in her early life you have to be careful of what you tell her! Because, like us, she would have been disappointed at missing some of the arly days of her existence. Simple pleasures can be enjoyed to all. Keep up the great parenting functions. Looking forward to seeing you all next week (baring the variety of hurricanes heading this way next weeki.) Love
