Jimmy Carter would be proud
This blog isn’t just about Esme. Now, granted, up to this point, it has been mostly (almost entirely) about Esme… though the point was to keep everyone updated on more than just the baby and the dogs.
This weekend we made an interesting discovery in the garden. Jeannie was helping weed (more on that in a minute) and she discovered this little gem in the backyard:
Yes, that’s a peanut shell, likely left by one of the hundreds of squirrels which Oliver loves chasing around. Peanuts are one of those things which you never think about how they grow — they’re just kind of, um, there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a peanut tree. It’s growing pretty well, so it’s good to know there’s a backup career as a peanut farmer waiting for me.
Anyway, there was plenty of other weeds that we pulled, though we decided to let the peanut tree grow and we’ll see what happens to it.
Jeannie was a big help in the garden. We didn’t realize how badly the garden needed weeding until it was finished. No “before”; here’s a few pictures of the “after.”
